The
H2READY project tackles one of the main challenges of the energy transition in the
cross-border area between Slovenia and Italy, by strengthening the role of municipalities in developing and implementing hydrogen-based solutions.
So far, cooperation has mostly involved companies and research institutes, while local communities have played only a limited role. H2READY bridges this gap, linking macro-regional strategies such as the
Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) with local needs.
The project supports the preparation of
municipal action plans, the training of experts, and the adoption of a
cross-border joint procurement model. The final goal is the development of a
strategic Masterplan, providing municipalities with practical tools for the long-term implementation of hydrogen solutions.
Key expected results:
- Pilot action plans for model municipalities
- Cross-border joint procurement model
- Strategic Masterplan for the hydrogen ecosystem
- Capacity building and skills development for local authorities
- Awareness-raising for citizens and stakeholders
CTS H2’s role
As a
technical partner, CTS H2 contributes its expertise in
hydrogen technologies, infrastructure development, and the
creation of sustainable business models. It will support the drafting of
informative documents to increase knowledge and awareness about hydrogen, its future potential, and the existing regulatory and economic barriers. CTS H2 will also deliver
training activities for stakeholders and municipalities, while developing a
small demonstrative model of the hydrogen value chain, making the functioning of this energy vector more tangible and easier to understand.
A cross-border partnership
H2READY is based on the cooperation of six project partners combining complementary expertise, bringing together public administrations, research institutions, and private actors. This partnership is further strengthened by a wide network of associated partners, ensuring strong links with local communities, businesses, and institutions on both sides of the border.
