Trieste, 29 May 2025 – CTS H2 reaffirms its role as a key player in the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) project, the only cross-border Hydrogen Valley in Europe, involving Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto), Slovenia, and Croatia. Initially funded in 2023 by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership under the Horizon Europe program, the project enters a new phase today, with total investments exceeding €3 billion, as reported by Messaggero Veneto.
NAHV represents a strategic initiative for the energy transition of the Adriatic area, aiming to produce over 5,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year, integrating production, storage, distribution, and final use in the industrial, energy, and sustainable mobility sectors.
CTS H2 contributes to the project as a technology and implementation partner, designing a micro-cogenerative, modular, and transportable hydrogen production unit powered by hydroelectric sources. This infrastructure is intended to support hydrogen mobility along the North Adriatic corridor, offering flexible deployment and directly supporting transport decarbonisation.
“Our participation in NAHV confirms CTS H2’s concrete and innovative approach. This is not a one-off project, but a structured and evolving path to create sustainable value across the entire hydrogen value chain,” says the CTS H2 team.
With 60 partners and 17 pilot projects underway, NAHV stands as a prime example of European cooperation for climate neutrality, connecting institutions, businesses, and research centers in a virtuous network. Alongside CTS H2, the consortium includes leading industrial players, public authorities, and academic institutions.
The initiative aligns with the European Green Deal objectives, with concrete actions to develop a competitive renewable hydrogen market and decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as steel and cement.
